The internet as we know it has finally reached Monclova!!! Monclova is a relatively small town in northern Mexico, which I am currently visiting.
Somehow having an wireless internet conection makes me feel closer to home!
I drove here this morning so I could be present at the engagement party of one of my cousins. I had no idea what to expect, but this is how it went: Arrival, blow dry hair, do makeup, dress up, meet with the families, and then lunch on the terrace with 40 of the closest friends of my cousin and her fiance. It all started 11 and a half hours ago, and people are still drinking downstairs. And this is JUST the engagement party! I don’t know what will happen at the wedding!
It’s been interesting to view the mechanics of how things go on around here. They seem different. We are from the same country, but in many ways seem to be from different worlds. Men and women sit at seperate tables and have little interaction with each other. And I hear that’s how weddings work here as well. I’ll have to wait until November to see that!
Anyway, Thank God for the internet….and all His other blessings.
I’m going to join the party again now, the second mariachi just arrived!
YEAHHH!!!!!!!!
