Unvoluntary STOP
Tuesday, August 29th, 2006I didn’t think today would be such an unproductive day, but it has turned out to be a VERY slow one! Apart from cleaning my closet, and organizing my night stand, I have only read, slept and watched TV. After I finish typing this entry I’ll do sit ups and maybe a crossword puzzle before I doze off again.
I have a long to do list to tackle and had also made plans with friends tonight, but apparently my immune system doesn’t care about all that! I can’t blame it for taking a break, and a well deserved break it is. These past two weeks have been sad and stressful. And my body seems to be telling me to slow down.
Somehow I managed to catch a BAD COLD - SMACK in the middle of summer! And I’m not talking about just any summer, I mean A MEXICAN SUMMER! Over ONE hundred and TEN degrees almost everyday! Maybe my body misses the cool breeze of the Baltic Sea and this is its way of leting me know.
I can’t blame anyone (or anything in this case) for missing Europe.
What a FABULOUS continent!
The more I learn about Europe, and the more I travel through it, the greater my appreciation for its history and the people who inhabit it. I managed to visit 8 countries that I had never been to and each was charming in its own way.
Spending a week in France was nice, but I discovered that the best part of it was the days in which I left Paris to visit castles in the Loire Valley. Paris was great, but busy and I enjoyed the country side very much this time around. But I was ready to leave for Scandinavia after a week of eating crepes, L’Entrecote and Pizza Pino.
Air France personnel were nice but they seemed to have overbooked every flight we were on!!! Travelling this summer through Europe was crazy because of the huge amount of World Cup visitors, employee stikes, and the heat waves, etc… The good thing about all this was that I was compensated with vouchers and I ended up spending three hours at the airport in Amsterdam. Those Dutch are such a friendly gang and I love the fact that men are taller than me!
So even though my family flew from Paris to Copenhagen in an hour and a half, catching up with them took me over 6 hours! But I was beaming as I stepped out of the plane in Denmark. And this lucky mexican got a cab driver that looked like he had just stepped out a GQ magazzine!
And the best part is that the Danish are extremely nice! Anyway, I had a quick bite at the hotel restaurant and walked over to the ENCHANTING Tivoli Gardens.
WoW - what a place!
For a minute I thought that I had stepped into a fairytale book!
I will tell you all about my cruise tomorrow (cause it probably end up being another "healing" day indoors!)
