Vacation according to ww.dictionary.com is defined in several ways…..

–noun

1. a period of suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel; recess or holiday: Schoolchildren are on vacation now.
2. a part of the year, regularly set aside, when normal activities of law courts, legislatures, etc., are suspended.
3. freedom or release from duty, business, or activity.
4. an act or instance of vacating.

–verb (used without object)

5. to take or have a vacation: to vacation in the Caribbean.

My favorite definition is the one in BOLD RED letters above -the fact that it contains the word FREEDOM is a no brainer to me.

I’d like to think of THIS vacation and ALL which I have taken in the past as a VERB and NOT a NOUN!  And so far this trip has been very much a verb!

There are friends who tell me repeatedly, "boy, things like that never happen to me".  I realized today that things don’t happen to me. I see them and make myself part of what is going on. I guess it has to do with personality.

For instance I was driving through downtown Houston yesterday and got a red light, I took a few seconds to observe my surroundings. To my right stood a man waiting for the bus.  I looked closely and realized that he was crying. We made eye contact, I frowned and mouthed "don’t cry", I then smiled, blew him a kiss and waved!  He smiled back and waved. I don’t know who that man was, nor do I think that our paths will ever cross again.  BUT the man smiled back and continued to do so as I sped away and that was enough for me.  For a moment we connected and I hope to have made his day a little bit better!

Am I the corniest girl in Texas?

Maybe…. but it’s only because I just watched a VERY girly movie tonight; one of the main characters was Jude Law.  So, give me a break, ok?  (Tip for male readers: if you want to make a girl happy, take her to the movies to watch THE HOLIDAYS)

Oky doky, folks, I am back on vacation mode - the computer must be turned off so I can get my beauty rest now!

THREE DAYS ‘TILL 2007!

Yikes, time sure flies by when you are smiling at strangers!

Sunday Bull fight!

Monday, December 18th, 2006

I spent yesterday afternoon at a bull fight.

I hadn’t been to one in about a decade, at least not a real one. Having been to a couple where the "torero" showed off his skill, I thought it might be cool to see a professional one take place.  But what I did not remember what the killing of the bull was like.  So when a friend of mine invited me to go, I happily agreed to! After all I am Mexican and should learn more about the "art of bull fighting", right?

I took lots of pictures and will upload some in a few hours, so that you can understand why I was shaken up by the whole deal.

Gotta finish making lunch right now and printing out the lyrics for the singing of the "petición de posada" (a complete blog in itself to talk about the tradition of the Mexican festivities commonly known as, posadas).  More about bulls and posadas soon.

Ciao!

Warning: DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS!

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

Lately I have been organizing drawers, cleaning out closets, rearranging furniture, updating adress book.  It seemed like a natural progression of things to move on to cleaning my laptop.

What a brilliant idea, right?

I thought so too!

After all my DELL and I are pretty tight, and I wouldn’t want it to look dirty or poorly mantained.

So I took on the task of deleting old files, blurry pictures, music that NO ONE would ever want to listen to, etc.  The process ended with a defragmentation of the disc.  It was all so easy and painless that I decided to continue my cleaning task and move on to the physical cleanliness of my dear sweet friend, the laptop.

This is what I did:

It took me about 4 hours to put Humpty Dumpty together again and it was NOT FUN!

Kids, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT HOME or without the supervision of a VERY PATIENT PERSON!

Favorite person

Saturday, December 9th, 2006

Do you KNOW who your favorite person in the whole world is? Without hesitation could you name the ONE person who is your ULTIMATE favorite?

I don’t.

Sure, I have a list of friends who are priceless in my life (as I hope I am in theirs), I have a list of people which I ADORE and many more people  who I want to get to know better BUT I can’t seem to narrow it down to one.  Is this bad?

My mind started wandering about this tonight, after I heard the boyfriend of one of my girlfriends remind her that she’s the most important person in his life.

Isn’t that romantic girls?

If you feel MERRY

If you are feeling MERRY and smell Christmas in the air, then I recommend you check out: www.santaclaus.com and www.claus.com

Both sites claim to be the FIRST and ORIGINAL Santa sites. The truth is that I don’t know, and I don’t really care if the chicken came before the egg!

I just hope that you enjoy the sites; they have games, recipes, activities, quizzes, countdowns, etc!

Enjoy the HOLIDAYS!
